This is a place much like the one we live in: it is a world run by people who are following the course of action that best suits their personal agenda. There are corrupt government bodies, wars, terrorists, flawed systems, destroyed hope, and yet everyone seems to go about their daily lives as if none of it is happening. But amongst all of the destruction, there are those that act in selfless love - a service to mankind that attains no spiritual goal and no promotion in their social class. These contrary forces somehow keep the world in a place of complacency so that those that wish to pay no attention to the world around them have the liberty to do so.

Like our world, this one has people who seek to attain power, influence, or riches and use the tactics of fear, false promises, and immorality in order to do so. They remove those that stand in their way and seek to accomplish their goal by whatever means necessary. Also, like our world, there are those who seek to put an end to these real-life antagonists by establishing systems of peace, justice, and ethics. Unfortunately, no person and no system can be perfect and the means required to accomplish these righteous goals are not as righteous as one would originally hope. It is these shortcomings that make our world - and this one -a place worthy of telling the stories of those that inhabit it.

Unlike our world, this place contains an energy that is untested and unknown whose influence leaks into every single aspect of the lives of those that live here. It is the reason the National Organization for the Regulation of Mankind really exists. It is the reason that so many young men and women are being carefully watched by government organizations such as this. It is the reason that individuals are tested in ways that they never dreamed to be challenged and thus it is the cause of the lessons that they learn because of them. It is tied to more than we may ever know or hope to know. And the most incredible part is that as you read this, you are among a select few to know what is different in this world: there are those with POWERS.
